Portland, Oregon:

A photo-finish examination has revealed that the coveted third-place
plaque in this year's Wiener Dog Summer National went to a different
dachshund than originally announced.

In fact, Perry Mason was the true third-place winner in the Saturday
night race at Multnomah Greyhound Park.

According to promoter Jim Beriault, judges and viewers at first missed
the fact that Lady Liberty sat down just before the finish line
instead of just after it.

Scrutiny of the race videotape revealed that Bennie was first, Rusty
was second and Perry Mason third.

Those who stage the event like to say that, no matter when or how the
dachshunds finish the race, every one's a wiener.
